‘Dear Rosa’ is part of an ongoing project about our relationship to time and the past. By means of historical research, interviews and personal footage, this project seeks to explore the invisibility of women through the story of one ancestor who died in a Hospital for Chronic Illness in Genoa in 1871. This installation reflects on, and refracts, the link of this place to three time periods, and to three women in one family.

This piece involves an audio track on headphones and the experience takes about 10 minutes. A try-out exhibition was presented Jan 26-27, 2024 at Het Wilde Weten in Rotterdam, culminating my three month long artist residency there.

I look forward to the opportunity to develop this project further at another venue and remain open to suggestions.
