I just returned from Brussels where Cinema Nova hosted a screening of Strange Creatures: Contemporary Independent Animation from Seattle. The event went super well and Cinema Nova is a very cool place. If you’re ever in Brussels, be sure to check it out! Their large cinema was pretty full and the audience was receptive. They were very patient with my French as well! It was also a pleasure screening the Belgian films I found just for this screening.

Last weekend I also screened the program in Amsterdam – the event was at OT301, but was hosted by the A/V Club. This was also a lovely evening in a cool venue, and it was a pleasure showing the short Dutch collection of films I curated for this night. Thank you to all the local filmmakers who contributed their work!

Both Amsterdam and Brussels have some talented independent animators and indie animation fans. I hope these screenings introduced them to the animators working in Seattle, and here’s hoping there’s more cross over in the future.
