Plain Face (2011)

Plain Face from Tess Martin on Vimeo.

In a fantastical land, a stranger arrives and is the subject of prejudice, violence and love. We follow her journey through memory as she decides whether to give up her heart. The characters and settings of this 10 minute long short were created using paper and plastic cut-outs, animated frame by frame on a backlit stand.

Directed and Animated by Tess Martin; Sound: Production House Media; Music: Jason Staczek; Compositing: Charlie Daugherty

Made possible by: 4Culture, The City of Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, Artist Trust, The Puffin Foundation

Below you can see a short lecture given at the Henry Art Gallery, given in conjuction with the (Be)Longing group show at the Kirkland Arts Center in March 2011, in which Plain Face was included.
