Water film production blog 7 - bubbles and bacteria

I’ve animated a lot of scenes over the past week for the water film. There was a scene with a toilet being flushed. A scene of various types of toilets appearing and dissolving. Below you will also see little bacteria making up the word ‘Bacteria’. I first spelled the word and then animated the bacteria [...]

The Whale Story profiled on FilmAnnex.com

FilmAnnex.com is an ad-supported online video platform that enables filmmakers to monetize their content. I just started my own ‘WebTV’ channel on there recently, and it’s been really interesting. Pipes, mountains, bubbles

More production photos and one video from the water project: Soap bubbles maximized loop from Tess Martin on Vimeo. This is a pencil test of an 8 frame maximized loop of soap bubbles going down a drain (drain not included). This will end up being animated in ink and – you guessed it! – water.

Puget Sound scene

Here are some production photos from yesterday where I was animating ink appearing in liquid. Only true Northwesters will recognize the shape of this water:

Water film ramps up

Today I went to Cal Anderson Park and took some recordings of various parts of the water fountain. I got all the samples I needed, like water going down a drain, water coming out of a pipe, water splashing against rocks. Very useful fountain. Here are also some photos of the latest scene I animated [...]

Collograph printmaking experiments

Collograph printmaking experiments from Tess Martin on Vimeo. This video shows experiments with animating collograph prints. The first segment is three separate prints made from three slightly different collograph shellac plates. The second segment is those same three plates printed on top of the same piece of paper. The third segment is three different carborundrum [...]
